Cleaning Your Garage Door

Cleaning your garage door is an important part of garage door maintenance that you can do at home yourself. We often don’t think about cleaning our doors the same way we do about common places we clean inside our homes like bathrooms, kitchens and bedrooms however garage doors do actually require some form of cleaning to ensure they have a long lifespan for your home.

Garage doors do not need the same frequency of cleaning as say a bathroom in your home but depending on the surrounding environment they may need more than you think. If you are located in a colder climate like ours here in Ontario, Canada where we get lots snow, ice and salt from maintaining our streets and driveways we highly recommend cleaning off your door to ensure the salt does not affect the protective coating on your door.

How to Clean Your Clopay Garage Door

    (b) Household liquid dishwashing detergent such as Dawn®.
  2. Clean your door from top to bottom, making sure to clean behind the stop molding on the sides and top of the door.
  3. After you’ve washed your door, rinse clean water and allow to dry.
