When this occurs, the garage door opener is still functional, but it will continue to alert you that the battery needs to be replaced. This is easy to replace yourself with a few easy steps. First, you will need the following tools to complete this job:
- Ladder
- Safety glasses
- Phillips Screwdriver
- 485LM Battery Back Up
Once you have all your tools prepared, we can start the process of replacing the garage door opener battery backup.
Follow the following steps:
- Disconnect power to opener.
- Using a Philips head screwdriver, remove the battery cover on the motor unit.
- Remove old battery and discard.
- Partially insert new battery into motor unit with terminals facing out.
- Connect red (+) and black (-) wires from motor unit to corresponding terminals on battery.
- Replace battery cover.
- Reconnect power.
